Section Three B: Find Books and Articles - Finding Articles and Journals - ProQuest Newstand
ProQuest Newsstand is a database of newspaper articles from worldwide news sources. It is a useful database to start your library research if you are looking for full text newspaper articles. This database contains information from over 150 U.S. and international newspapers, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Utah news from the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News. It also contains hundreds of other news sources and news wires. Articles are in full text and the coverage is 1977 to the present.
ProQuest Newsstand Basic Search:
- From the Library homepage scroll to the bottom, then select Articles & Journals. From the the A-Z databases list select Newspapers under the All Database Types drop down menu. ProQuest Newsstand is the first in the alphabetical list for "P" or by search by title in the list of databases.
- Enter your keyword search in the search window.
- Resort your results or narrow results by title, location, etc.
- Click article title or Full text link to view the article.
- Choose Email, Print or Export/Save.
- Choose Cite to view citation choices. You can copy/past this citation to your Works Cited or Reference list, but it will not be correct and will need to be updated/corrected.
ProQuest Newsstand Newspaper Title Search:
If you know the newspaper that has the article you want, you can use the Publications link on the search screen to find the newspaper. If you want to find articles from the Salt Lake Tribune:
- Choose the Publications link and search for "Salt Lake Tribune".
- On the results screen note the newspaper coverage available.
- Click the newspaper title to search within this publication.
