Dr. Morrow's English 1010 Simplified Citation Style Guide: Citing a Source with a PURL

Many databases provide permalinks, or permanent URLs (PURLs) for sources.  A PURL should be used before any other option for citing your source.  Use a PURL before using a URL or a DOI.
